    Jc Sportfishing
Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo
San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is
geared more for families and novice anglers,
making sure everyone who charters a boat with him has a great time and
lots of fun. We welcome families and groups. We want everyone who fishes with
us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most
important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman
who might be interested in tournament fishing. Lets get on with the report for
    this past week.

WATER: Well the water temperature is much
cooler with some areas as low as 70 to 71 degrees and green water. According to
Terra Fin temp on the pacific was a little warmer up to 74 to 76.

WEATHER: The weather has been off
and on this past week. We did even have some rain for a couple days. Most days
of the past week were cloudy and a bit cooler. It has definitely cooled at
night with temperatures dropping into the ladder 50,s at night. Most day time temperatures has been in the 70,s. Really
last 3 days have been pretty nice and today is clear and sunny but some what
    cooler.

    BILLFISHING: Well the Black Marlin
are still around and do we have a fish story for you. A friend of mine hooked
into a Black Marlin about 12 miles off the Light House at 11.00 in the morning
and fought the fish for 12 hours. The fish was said to be near 1.000 pounds and 16 and a half feet long. He
hooked it on a 50 wide with 60 pound test. They hand lined the fish to the swim
step where it broke free. Four different anglers fought that fish over 12
hours. Only in Cabo!!! The Striped Marlin fishing has been really good. The Pacific
side has been really productive even right off the big rock in Cabo, marlin
were being caught. Red hot Marlin fishing from Los Arcos to up inside the
Golden Gate with some boats reporting 5 or 6 Marlin per boat.. About mid week
around Wednesday fishing was really in high gear. Our boats have consistently caught
Striped Marlin this week with a couple to 120 pounds. Most were in the 80 to
110 range. Drifting off the Light House we were seeing good action. Pitching
live bait or soaking live bait was working well. Throwing live bait at tailing
marlin was enticing enough for them to strike. We also did have some strikes
when trolling lures on the pacific side. Four to 6 miles off shore and as far
north as San Cristobel marlin were being caught. This whole past week fishing
was good, and fishing was close to Cabo
which made it easy for us to get to. Striped Marlin is king now and always has
    been in Cabo.

BAIT: Bait is the standard 3.00 dollares a piece
and there has been plenty around.

DORADO: Fishing has been wide open
with Dorado everywhere. We really killed them this week with our boats getting
limits for our clients all week. From Grey Rock all the way to Rancho Migrano.
Fish were hitting about anything you threw at them. Most the Dorado were
concentrated on the Pacific side and more scattered out on the Sea of Cortez
    side.

TUNA: The Tuna fishing has been hit and miss this past week.
When you did run into them you had to run 20 miles out to have a chance to get
lucky. On the pacific side some boats from Ensenada were towing some Tuna pens and
some local guys spotted them and there was some excellent fishing in and around
the pen with Dorado, Wahoo and Marlin being caught. Last year the same thing
happen when we spotted boats towing pens to LaPaz and we really killed them.

INSHORE: Well the Sierra bite is
getting better with the cooler water. Small hootchies (preferably green)
and rapallas trolled with a short wire was productive. Some Roosterfish close
to shore was reported. The Panga fishing right offshore has been great for
Dorado, Marlin and Wahoo. Inside 5 miles of shore was really hot over the past
    week.

WAHOO: There back in good numbers this past week. Lots of
Wahoo from 10 to 25 pounds were reported. Most were hitting rapalas, marauders and
live bait off of Los Arcos on the pacific side.

BEWARE: Remember if your not renting charter boats
from companies who have been established in Cabo for the past 20 years (
Jcsportfishing, Pisces Sportfishing, Minervas, Redrum, Picante Fleet) you might
have problems. There are many sportfishing fleets on the internet who are
really not established business, who are operating illegally. Lots of these
outfits are renting you a boat they have never even looked at and don’t even
know where you would board the boat, leaving you the task of trying to find the
boat. They don’t even have an office you can go and confirm your charter boat.
You do not want to spend a day walking around looking for the boat and where
you board. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where
your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying
to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person
guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there
is no confusion or misleading. Lots of vendors renting boats in the hotels are
not reputable and don’t care about your
interest and care more about a commission . 75% of the Cabo Fishing websites on
Google are not even in business anymore or might be just brokers who don’t have
an office in Cabo. Some of the Google websites are misleading and not
established .Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you
rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing
fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the
costs. You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not
want to book through shady websites offering you the world. You need to go to
the fishing fleet office, while in Cabo and book your boat. Check through
travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for
testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what
will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does
it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask
about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just
a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more
about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we
hope to see you in Cabo soon.
