My IP address and server has been the same for about 10 years. You are the first one that I know of that has had a problem with it. I hope there is nothing wrong with it. Hey Uwe,,can you look into that and let me know if you have a problem please. (I did change it to the http://rlhiott.home.att.net/ address)

The giant red drum show up in the spring (June) and are here all summer. They spawn in Oct and then go offshore for the winter.
These fish are caught in deep water on the edge of the shipping channel and at the jettys. I have never used artificials to catch these fish, and the water is to deep for a flyrod.
Live or cut bait is the way to go with these fish....................

Here is the Berkley Power Bait that works good at night by its self. It has a rattle in it, its weighted, and it also glows in the dark.

Here is one of the new for 2009 Pflueger SupremeXT freshwater reels loaded with 10lb braid that I have been using for a while now with no problems at all.
It was also used a while back to catch amberjack offshore. Its one tuff freshwater reel!

For the last few weeks this is what I have been using to put the trout and the red drum in the boat.
My favorite set-up is the Berkley "Gulp Alive" 3" white shrimp under the Cajun Thunder rattle float. Just to let you know,,,The solid brass beads are important!

I use the same hook you find in a DOA shrimp when I rig it under the float. If you look close,,you can see the barbs in the shank.

When I rig the shrimp or a fluke for casting by it self,,,,I use a flutter hook like these. This works better for the red drum in the shallow water.

    Man,,,, what a day!
I had two guys in the boat yesterday that knew how to fish. All I had to do was get them dialed in on how to use the rattle float and the game was on!
They caught fish in the Ashley and the Wando rivers.
Like I said before,,,That Berkley "Gulp Alive" is the ticket!!
I dont know how many fish they boated,,,but it was a lot!

If you dont use the Gulp Alive,,,,,you should be.....................

Here is a few shots for you.

Yes Uwe, The AJ's would hit anything we put in the water,,,anything that was mooving!

Here is another shot of that Zara-Spook we used until the hooks were to damaged to use.

Pflueger has been around since 1881.http://www.pfluegerfishing.com/

Its all I use on my charters. I do testing for them and they make a good product!.

Here is one of there latest spinning reels. I have had it now for about 3 Months.

I wish I could get an e-mail from the site when somebody makes a reply................

I had two guys yesterday. We started out by the Charleston jettys with cut bluefish on the bottom for the giant red drum.
These fish have just shown up for the season, only one was caught. It measured 41". Pictures were taken and the fish was realsed.

We came inshore and fished for the smaller reds off of the Intracoastal waterway.
Most of the fish were over 26" long with about 14 being caught on cut menhaden. Water temp was 69-70 degrees.

I saved the best shot for last,, I took this on a trip last week. I like this one!

Matt and I went offshore today for some sheepshead. We ended up keeping about 6. Here is the largest. 13lb-10oz. Just 2lbs shy of the state record.
The ocean was great,,,we ran 30mph all the way back in (15 miles)

Here are some more shots from today,,,,

Me and a buddy went out yesterday to one of the nearshore reefs. Started out catching Weakfish,,then it was Bluefish,,Black sea bass,,and then Spanish Mackerel. I cant tell you how many fish we caught there in just a few hours. We kept about 7 of the Weakfish for dinner.
We also kept about 9 of the BIG bluefish for the next run off shore. This would be for the Kings in about 55' (About 15 miles out). We only trolled two rods at a time but It didnt take long before the kings were jumping out of the water at the blue's we had on the wire,,we had one fish jump FOUR times at the bait before he got the hooks in his mouth. Now that was a sight to see. The water was flat calm! not even any wind ripple. We ran at 35mph in my 21 foot bay boat going out and back in.

We ended up with four Kings in the box (22-25lbs) and the 7 weakfish (1.5-2lbs).

Here ya go,,The fish in my right hand is 25lbs.

The charters I had over the weekend were pretty good. Friday was the best with the big reds on the in coming tide out off the beach.
They caught 7 big reds with the size any where between 29" and 39",,,Not the giants we were looking for but good fish.

Saturday was slow. During the four hour trip they caught 3 reds that were all about the same size 39" and one shark that was every bit of 130 pounds. The guy did a great job on the rod with the battle lasting allmost an hour on 20lb tackle. I love those Pflueger Contender reels.

Sunday was kind of a fun fishing trip for me. I took Mike Tyler from Augusta GA and my wife Eve out for the giant reds off the beach,,,,,,,,,,well, no giants were caught in about an hour so we headed back in to shem creek to get a bite to eat. After that we headed down the ICW for some smaller reds on the out going tide. I had a good feeling the fish would be there.
The first line in the water sat there for about 1min,,,,,,bam, fish-on. We sat in the same spot for about an hour and a half had a blast. Most of the fish were between 23"- 29"
All fish were caught on fresh cut menhaden while on the bottom in about 10 feet of water.

Here are some pictures for you..........

I thought I would play around with a couple of shots,,,,Watcha think guys?

I took this shot of my crew aboard the Duncan's Trophy Hunter while fishing the Miracles tournament (2005) here in Charleston SC this season,,,,,,,,,,Matt caught it (Holding the tail) and thats Tracey on the bill.
Well,,,,It made the cover of the "Fish and Hunting Guide Magazine" for this month.
