    THE BIG FISH HAVE ARRIVED!!!!!
With consistent 80 degree plus water surrounding the Baja peninsula and big fish making a daily presents in the pattern of our charter fleet it’s time to break out the big gear. Blue and Black Marlin are crashing big jigs and slow trolled Skipjack and Yellowfin Tuna.

August 2nd. Proved to be a great day for Ronnie Wilson and his family aboard our 35’ Cabo Flybridge “Picante Dream” with Captain Pablo “Palin” Cesena at the helm and deckhand Daniel working the cockpit. After spotting a bunch of Striped Marlin they finally found 2 that were hungry and released 2 nice fish. Fleet production for the day was 2 Striped Marlin, 1 Pacific Sailfish, 4 Dorado
    and 2 Yellowfin Tuna.

On August 3rd. Ron Stell and his family spent the day chasing the fish aboard our fast 29’ Blackfin “Picante 29” with Captain Alex Collins at the controls and deckhand “Charro” working the cockpit. They fished 2 days and the boys had their first opportunity to fight Striped Marlin releasing 2 nice fish and boating 2 Yellowfin Tuna for dinner at a local restaurant.

Our good friend Michael Jourdan and his family made another trip to our sleepy fishing village and had the battle of their lives fighting an estimated 550 lb. Black Marlin aboard our great 32’ Cabo Express “Picante Express” with Captain Antonio
“Nino” Romero at the helm. After a 3 hour struggle the big fish was finally boat side. During the fight Michael yelled up to the bridge to “Nino” to have the mate cut the line because he was tired. “Nino” almost fell off the bridge in shock. Of course he was just kidding. They also boated 3 Yellowfin Tuna.
Fleet production was 1 Black Marlin, 4 Striped Marlin, 7 Dorado and 4 Yellowfin Tuna.

On August 8th. Mr. Ross and his family had one of those days only Cabo fishing can provide and one the Ross’ will not soon forget. Aboard the “Picante Express”, our 32’ Cabo Express they released 6 Striped Marlin and 1 Pacific Sailfish along with boating a Yellowfin Tuna. It’s been some time since 1 of our boats released that many Stripers in a day.
Fleet production was 1 Blue Marlin, 8 Striped Marlin, 1 Pacific Sailfish, 2 Dorado and 14 Yellowfin Tuna.

The schools of Yellowfin Tuna are close enough to the beach for our fleet to reach and August 1st was a day that the porpoise were thick and the Yellowfin Tuna were feeding. A total of 38 Yellowfin were boated by our fleet. Many were released to grow up to be big Tuna.
With the football tuna in town the Blue’s and Black’s have plenty of candy to munch on and it won’t be long before the big girls are crashing slow trolled tuna or top water jigs. TEAM PICANTE spent the day with friends on the 35’ Cabo Express “CISCO” with Captain Jose “Mocho” Nunez at the helm and deckhand Ricardo working the cockpit. 18 miles due south of Lands End they found the first schools and put 8 in the boat in short order. Deciding to chase the Marlin “Cisco” headed SE and about 11:00 am an estimated 250 lb. Blue hit the port side outrigger and the fight was on. After about 20 minutes the fish was boat side and released to fight another day. An hour later a nice Striped Marlin estimated at 150 lbs. was convinced to east a live mullet and after 15 minutes the fish was released.

WAS A GREAT WEEK OF FISHING IN CABO !!!

The Marlin bite has turned on and it includes Blues and Blacks. The fishing continues to be on the Sea of Cortez side of the peninsula. Blue Marlin are almost a daily catch and a nice Black Marlin was caught Saturday just 2 miles off Punta Ballena. Tuna, Dorado and Wahoo are also mixing in to keep our clients happy.

On July 12th. our 29’ Blackfin “Picante 29” with Captain Alex Collins at the helm provided a great day of fishing for Mr. Rabinsky and his friends. They released a Blue Marlin (approx. 250 lbs.) and a Striped Marlin along with boating 2 Dorado and a Yellowfin Tuna for dinner.
Our total daily catch was 1 Blue and 1 Striped Marlin, 1 Wahoo, 13 Yellowfin Tuna and 4 Dorado.

July 13th. proved to be a productive day with a nice variety of fish caught. Our boat of the day was “19’s Toy” with Captain Alfredo Ruiz at the controls. A friend of the owner, Mr. Barry and his friends spent the day on this great boat chasing fish around the Baja peninsula. After seeing lots of Striped Marlin they were able to hook up 2 fish to be released at boatside. The fleet kept our charters happy with 4 Striped Marlin released along with boating 2 Wahoo, 19 Yellowfin Tuna and 8 Dorado.

On July 14th. our good friend Mr. Addis and his friends spent the day with Captain Jose “Mocho” Nunez at the helm of our fast 35’ Cabo Express “CISCO”. They booked several days of fishing and today they made it to our “boat of the day” status. They released3 Striped Marlin and 1 Mako Shark along with boating a Dorado for dinner. Total fleet production was 5 Striped Marlin, 2 Dorado, 1 Mako Shark & 1 “BIG” Grouper.

With cut backs in corporate travel is encouraging to see the folks from Jackson National Life treat their top employees to a convention here in our sleepy fishing village. They booked several boats and our new 32’ Cabo Express “Picante Express” with Captain Antonio “Nino” Romero at the controls was our boat of the day releasing 3 Striped Marlin and boating a nice Wahoo for the Jackson National folks. I’m sure they enjoyed the Wahoo on the dinner table that evening.

Our final “Fish Story” for the week is right out of the fairy tales of fishing. Gerald Smith and his son are vacationing for Caldwell, New Jersey and decided to spend a day plying the waters around the Baja peninsula. They booked our 24’ Shamrock “Picantito III” with Captain Francisco “Kilo” Acevedo at the controls and got the surprise of their lives when a BIG Black Marlin ate the lure on the outrigger and proceeded to act like most Blacks do when hooked, grey hounding all around the boat putting on a great show. Gerald had never caught a marlin and his son was making his first trip offshore. They have an experience both will talk about for years to come. The fish was estimated at 425 lbs. +…..they also boated 2 Dorado for dinner to discuse the days events. Fleet production for the day was 1 Black and 3 Striped Marlin, 2 Yellowfin Tuna, 3 Wahoo & 3 Dorado.

WHERE DO ALL THE ANGLERS GO ???

With lots of fish being spotted by the boats we are sending out it’s a shame there aren’t more tourists in town. All week long almost all the boats we sent out released multiple Striped Marlin on each trip. The westerly winds are still blowing and are pushing the fishing to the Gordo Banks and Imen Banks but both underwater sea mounts are holding fish. For those that braved the bumpy ride on the Pacific side, they weren’t disappointed either, with schools
of porpoise holding Yellowfin Tuna and Dorado are being caught almost everywhere.

On July 1st. Mr. Killion and his friends from Texas chartered our 35’ Cabo Flybridge “Picante Dream” and had a great day plying the waters surrounding the Baja peninsula. With Captain Pablo “Palin” Cesena at the helm and deckhand Daniel working the cockpit they released 2
Striped Marlin, boated a Dorado and came inside and with live bait and boated 5 big Red Snapper.

On July 2nd. our good friend Michael Soper made his second visit in a month with friends and clients to chase marlin around the Baja Peninsula. This trip they fished on the newest addition to our fleet, a 29’ Blackfin named “Picante 29” with Captain Alex Collins at the controls and deckhand “Charro” working the cockpit. Again, they weren’t disappointed releasing 2 Striped Marlin and boating 3 Dorado for dinner. Look forward to seeing you back in Cabo soon.

On July 4th. our 35’ Cabo Express “Salsa” with Juan Carlos “Brincos” Lopez on the sticks and deckhand Hugo in the cockpit provided a great day of action for Mr. Antis and his friends. They released 2 Striped Marlin and boated 3 Yellowfin Tuna and 2 Dorado. Great dinners will be had during their stay with fresh fish that can be taken to most restaurants around town to be prepared to their liking. Total fleet production for the day was 5 Striped Marlin, 5 Yellowfin Tuna,5 Dorado & 2 Amberjack.

It was just a matter of time before the Blue Marlin made their way to the underwater mountains surrounding the Baja peninsula. With water temps in the low 80’s and deep blue in color we knew it wasn’t going to be long before the flat lines starting ripping line to the horizon…..and this was the week that it happened.

June 23rd. was the start of a string of Blue Marlin battles. Mr. Turchurnand his family spent the day aboard “SALSA” our great 35’ Cabo Express with Captain Juan Carlos “Brincos” Lopez at the helm and deckhand Hugo working the cockpit. About an hour into the charter the nice Blue Marlin estimated at 400 lbs. + came into the pattern and after some coaxing ate the port side flat line and the fight was on.
The fish came to the boat pretty quick but was way to green to be billed so the drag was loosened to let the fish tire itself out before another attempt was made to release the fish. In the interim the fish put on a great show greyhounding and jumping around the boat. After an hour and a half struggle the fish was released to fight again.

Not to be outdone, our world class fishing platform, “Picante 45”, a beautiful 45’ Cabo Express with Captain Emilio Arenas at the controls and first mate Pedro working the cockpit escorted Mr. Sherman and his family on a fishing trip the will not forget. Before lunch they released 2 Blue Marlin. Both were in the 225 lb. range and put up a great fight. First Blue Marlin for both anglers….they won’t admit if they got any help from the other folks aboard. In addition they boated 5 Yellowfin Tuna to 40 lbs. A day to be remembered for sure on this June 24th. 2010.

With a string of days where our boats caught Blue Marlin, June 25th. Was not to disappoint. Another Blue Marlin was caught on “SALSA” for Mr. Hagedorn and his friends. However, “SALSA” was not boat of the day as our 32’ Cabo Express with Captain Antonio “Nino” Romero fishing in the 13th. annual Stars and Stripes Tournament released 4 Striped Marlin for Mark Rowan and his friends. We had 3 boats fishing the tournament and all 3 placed at the top of several divisions.
Congrats to the crews of “Picante 45”, “Picante Express” and “Cisco” for making us proud during this 2 day event.

June 27th. was also a productive day for the crew on “SALSA” with Mr. Kittey and his friends spending their Sunday plying the waters surrounding the Baja peninsula. They also released a Striped Marlin and boated 5 Yellowfin Tuna to be enjoyed by all at dinner.

    TOTAL FLEET PRODUCTION !!!

THIS WEEK WE FOUND THE MARLIN !!!!!

With summer approaching and the warmer water making it’s way towards the Baja peninsula we caught more Striped Marlin this week then were caught the last 2 months. Marlin were caught all around the peninsula from the San Jaime Bank to the 1150 Spot.

On June 14th Jeff Beach and his friends had a great day chasing the Striped Marlin on our fast 35’ Cabo Express “SALSA” with Captain Juan Carlos “Brincos” Lopez at the helm and deckhand Hugo working the cockpit. The boys from the North Country released 4 Striped Marlin and had a double hookup to boot. They also boated a nice Yellowfin Tuna which provided dinner for the anglers. Total fleet production for the day was
    10 Striped Marlin & 7 Yellowfin Tuna.

On June 15th. the big corporate group having their annual convention here in our sleepy fishing village had a great day again on “SALSA” with “Brincos” at the controls. SANOFI Group released 3 Striped Marlin and could not have been happier after returning to the dock. Fleet production for the day was 14 Striped Marlin, 1 Dorado & 4 Wahoo.

Again on June 16th. SANOFI Group fished on our 35’ Cabo Express with Captain Jose “Mocho” Nunez at the helm and deckhand Ricardo working the cockpit. Today they released 2 Striped Marlin and were boat of the day because of the big Jack Crevalle they caught,
estimated at 40 lbs. Fleet production for the day was 8 Striped Marlin, 1 Mako Shark and 1 BIG Jack Crevalle.

The last day of SANOFI Groups charters again proved successful on our 35’ Cabo Express “CISCO” with “Mocho” at the controls. 2 Striped Marlin were released along with a Mako Shark. They also boated a Yellowfin Tuna to be shared with the group for dinner. Fleet production for the day was 5 Striped Marlin, 1 Dorado, 6 Yellowfin Tuna, 1 Wahoo & 1 Shark this June 17th.

Tourist activity slowed so the guys from “TEAM PICANTE” decided to spend a day at sea on our 29’ Blackfin “Picante 29”. The morning started out slow as we looked for the porpoise and the Yellowfin Tuna that usually can be found beneath the schools. The afternoon proved more productive with a 45 lb. Wahoo boated and 2 nice Dorado.
This was the 2nd. Wahoo caught on the same lure and from the same position in the spread. Guess we’re on to something here. The lure will have to be sent to the doctor are being nailed by 2 big toothy Wahoo. Thanks to Captain Alex Collins and deckhand “Charro”
for a fun day on the water. Fleet production for the day was 1 Striped Marlin, 2 Roosterfish, 3 Dorado, 3 Tuna & 1 Wahoo.

THE WEST WIND CONTINUES TO BLOW!!!

Beautiful late spring weather is greeting our charter clients with light morning breezes and windy afternoons creating white caps for the ride back to the inlet. Fishing has been great with old friends and Corporate Groups making there way to our desert paradise here at Lands End.

Old friends from Texas, Jack Brown and his family made their way back to Cabo and spent the day on the water with Capt. Pablo “Palin” Cesena and deckhand Daniel. Spending the day on the Pacific side of the peninsula the seas continued to get bumpy but that did not deter the fishing with 1 Striped Marlin released and a nice 45 lb. Wahoo boated before they headed back to the inlet.

For the last several years the folks from SANOFI have planned their annual convention here in our sleepy fishing village and this year they went all out booking 6 or 7 boats per day for 3 days this week. On June 8th. their best boat was the “CISCO” with Capt. Jose “Mocho” Nunez at the controls releasing a Striped Marlin and boating 2 Yellowfin Tuna.

On June 9th. one of those days you read about was had by Mr. O’Connor and his family aboard the great 35’ Cabo Flybridge “Picante Dream”. They headed due south along the temperature break outside the 1,000 fathom line and were rewarded with releases of 4 Striped Marlin and a Pacific Sailfish. A day not soon forgotten by the O’Connor’s.

This week the “Picante Dream” was the hot boat with the folks from SANOFI back on board. Most of these folks have never been deep sea fishing and they had the time of their lives releasing a Striped Marlin and boating 2 Yellowfin Tuna for dinner.

On June 11th. David Carter and his Friends spent the day chasing fish around the Baja peninsula with Captain Juan Carlos “Brincos” Lopez on the beautiful 35’ Cabo Express “SALSA” and had a day full of action. They hooked 15 Yellowfin Tuna releasing 6 of the smaller fish. Anybody
    Got Wasabi???

    TOTAL FLEET PRODUCTION

    · 16 Striped Marlin

STRIPED MARLIN AND TUNA BITE REBOUNDS!!!

Beautiful spring weather has again greeted our charter clients along with westerly and southwesterly afternoon breezes. The breezes continue to push the cooler Pacific waters toward the Baja peninsula and a temperature break has set up south of the Arch holding bait fish which in turn has brought the Yellowfin Tuna and Striped Marlin close to the beach.

On May 31st. Mr. Miller and his friends spent the day on our 31’ Cabo Express with Captain Eduardo “Lalo” Cesena at the helm and deckhand Ruben working the cockpit. Alter multiple chances at Striped Marlin they ended up releasing 2 Stripers and a Mako Shark along with boating 2 Yellowfin Tuna for dinner.

Corporate travel continues to visit our sleepy fishing village as the folks from UFC Group had a great day fishing aboard our35’ Cabo Flybridge “Picante Dream” with a great crew of Captain Pablo “Palin” Cesena and deckhand Daniel. “Newly weds both catch their First Billfish”

This weeks report starts on a happy note and a lot of excitement

for newly weds Mr. & Mrs. Billy Leihy from the Boston, MA area.

After teeing the knot last weekend they jumped on an airplane to

spend their honeymoon here at Lands End. They fished 4 days on

a variety of our fleet, catching Wahoo, Dorado & Roosterfish.

The final fishing day was the one they will remember. They spent

the day on our 31’ Cabo Express with Captain Eduardo “Lalo” Cesena at the helm and deckhand Ruben working the cockpit. Their

dreams of releasing a billfish was finally rewarded with both of

them releasing a Striped Marlin. Talk about an excited bunch of

kids. This won’t be their last trip to Cabo !!

With corporate America tightening their belts it’s great to see

Companies still rewarding their top employees and clients. The

folks from Allergan Corp. booked a bunch of boats and all had

a great day on the water. Our boat of the day on May 18th. was the “Picante Express” with Capt. Antonio Romero at the controls releasing a Striped Marlin and boating 3 Yellowfin Tuna. On May 19th. members of the same group fished again on our 35’ Cabo flybridge “Picante Dream” with Captain Pablo “Palin” Cesena at the helm. Again a great day was had by all releasing a Striped Marlin and boating 1 Dorado and 4 BIG Wahoo. As you will see in the total weekly catches the Wahoo bite has been the best we’ve seen in a long time.

To cap the week Mr. Warren and his friends spent the day on the water with Captain Alex Collins on our “Picante 29”.

WIDE VARIETY OF SPECIES CAUGHT !!!

The weather continues to cooperate as our clients had warm winter mornings with sunny afternoons. The afternoon winter winds are starting to blow although it’s late for their arrival.

Outside the 95 Spot and the Pacific side of the peninsula continue to be the “Hot Spots” this week. John Crossetti and his friends had a day they will not forget on our “Picante 29” with Captain Alex Collins at the helm and deckhand Hugo working the cockpit. Mid-day they spotted a Broadbill Swordfish on the surface and with some coaxing they hooked the fish and the battle was on. After an hour the fish was close enough for deckhand Hugo to leader the fish, with gaff in hand he attempted to land the gaff, however, the leader had been worn thin by the corner of the fishes mouth and the leader snapped in his hand. Another win by this great fighter that more often than not wins this kind of a battle.

In addition they boated a Mako Shark and a nice dorado for dinner. We’ll see these guys back in Cabo soon.

On April 25th. Mr. Borkowski and his friends spent the day at sea with Captain Pablo “Palin” Cesena at the controls and deckhand Daniel working the cockpit. The day was very productive releasing a Striped Marlin and boating 3 Yellowfin Tuna.

IT’S ABOUT THE 2 THAT GOT AWAY!!!!! Just another beautiful week for those that are vacationing in our desert paradise.

Warm sunny days and comfortable evenings are greeting our clients.

You just never know what will happen when you drop a bait in the waters surrounding the Baja Peninsula. Todd Johnson and his friends spent the day on the water with Captain Jose “Mocho” Nunez on our 35’ Cabo Express “CISCO”. Captain “Mocho” spotted a school of porpoise and headed in that direction. Once in the school they put out 4 tuna jigs and bang….4 hookups…they boated the fish and proceeded to put the jigs back in the water. Flat lines went in first and both reels went off screaming line. Todd and his friends looked at each other in amazement. Deckhand Ricardo did all he could to stop the fish…including locking down the drags…but the fish could not be stopped. Captain “Mocho” said it looked like a safe was dropped from the sky when the fish took the baits leaving a big hole in the water. Both Shimano Tiagra 50’s were stripped and the line snapped. No telling how big those 2 fish were. Ariel Chaus and his family had a great day aboard our 32’ Cabo Express “Picante Express” with Captain Antonio “Nino” Romero at the controls. They hooked 22 Yellowfin Tuna to 40 lbs. while releasing 10 of the smaller fish.
