    Interesting post, Dave!

This will be for some species on our side of the pond, most notably amberjack. the amberjack we catch in north carolina are not edible, their meat has worms in it. so while there have been some real monsters taken in the past few years, they are almost always released.

Hey guys just wanted to let you know of a new venture my buddy and I are trying to get up and rolling. The name is Jig N Pop Adventures and the goal is to provide ultimate satisfaction for all worldwide jigging and popping needs. Customer service, customer satisfaction and catching fish are the goals here! This all started from a love of jigging and popping and will hopefully spark into careers :)

Currently we offer trips to a variety of places including:

    - Cape Cod, MA
    - Cape May, NJ
    - Panama
    - Los Suenos, Costa Rica
    - Cape Verde

We are also trying to start trips to Oman, Fiji and New Caledonia - provided we have interest of course :).

Don't miss the Cape Cod fishery. I promise that after tangling with 200lb bluefin tuna on poppers you will not want anything else. It is simply awesome.

Hopefully some of the European anglers will be able to come and enjoy the fun. Truly this is a world class fishery not to be missed!

    definitely :)

To be honest, most times i reach for a swimbait like a shibuki, tailwalk gunz, daiwa slider, etc before poppers. easier to work!! but a hit on a popper is unlike anything else!!

I'd say no question jigging and popping. It has exploded over the last couple years and IMO will continue to do so for a few reasons:

    1. the gear is as strong as heavy traditional standup gear and much much lighter
    2. the strike on a jig or popper is unlike that of bait. for me, its much more exciting and satisfying to get a hit on a jig or popper
    3. many jigging and popping anglers are catch and release anglers which is also growing in popularity.
    4. bait gets messy :)
    5. it is far more economical to go out and jig all day than it is to burn a ton of fuel by trolling. with increasing fuel prices this can mean thousands of dollars for captains around the world.

    But, we shall see :)

    Hey guys,
I have tried my best to translate the posts and am very happy that everyone was pleased with the OTI rods and am excited for everyone to give them a workout in Panama :tanz: ! I'm also interested to check out that Alutecnos popping rod as I've not seen one here in the US. maybe we'll need to trade rods for a day :)

As a reference, I have been using the 40/60 Tuna Sniper for about a year now and it has been great. the 40/60 casts very well, even with very light lures. Personally my best fish with this rod is a yellowfin tuna of only approx 50kgs, but as you see below - they have been tested on some big fish. The fish I pictured below is a bluefin tuna, approximately 80kgs.

apologies as I do not speak german :)

however - i used an upgraded everol 12/20 in panama back in april and i was very impressed. the reel was a tank, had virtually 0 binding issues (common in small lever drag reels) and had tons of drag.

While I think 6.2:1 is a bit on a high side for jigging (end up losing torque) I have no doubts this will be an excellent reel. I look forward to trying one at some point :)
