One of our members fished there aboard Calypso just before the Lizard Island Black Marlin Classic and found the fishing extremely SLOW. This is his report:
ZitatJust back from Australia - not a great trip. Fished with Biggles Haydon on the Calypso for 6 days as live aboard charter. Three small Blacks - 250lb;300lb;350lb - on first day, then nothing/nada/no bites for next 5 days. Fishing very slow this year
Hope Stephan has a better trip than me. For info, Biggs had marked a fish on the sounder, turned on it for a few minutes and then moved on - saw Bill Billson on the Viking hook up there less than 5 minutes later and saw them fight what turned out to be a 1100lb fish! So close but so far!
Whilst they certainly caught some BIG fish during the tournament the fishing remained slow. You can see reports here - http://www.blackmarlinfishingblog.com/ .
And Stephan Kreupl’s currently fishing there aboard Tradition skippered by Tim Richardson. Although he started by releasing an estimated 600 pounder on his first day catch rates haven’t improved. Stephan is however having fun with the GTs. You can follow reports of his trip on this blog - http://www.scottkerrigan.com/
