The “El Nino” conditions in the Pacific Ocean are still producing strange weather in the states and unusual catches around the peninsula. With record snow in the east, heavy rains in the west, and Blue Marlin being caught in warm water currents in February, it is a strange year. Our 31’Albemarle “RAMROD” headed offshore on the 3rd. and found a large school of porpoise holding Yellowfin Tuna. With Captain Gilberto Castro at the helm they hooked 14 Yellowfin tuna boating 4 and releasing smaller fish. The largest weighed in at a respectable 40 Lbs. On February 4th. our friends from Spain Ignacio Luqui and his friends released a Striped Marlin and boated 7 Yellowfin Tuna on our 32’ Cabo Express “Picante Express” with Captain Antonio “Nino” Romero at the controls. On February 7th. Paul Marischen and his wife headed offshore on our 35’ Cabo Express “SALSA” with Captain Ivan Gomez at the helm got the surprise of their lives when an estimated 325 lb. Blue Marlin came out of the deep and ate a trolled lure behind the boat. She was the biggest of 2 Blues caught on the 7th.
